The Story

Japan is an incredible country to visit in any way, but it becomes even more special when you understand what is behind each detail.

At JaF Tours, we are a group of Japan-based residents passionate about this incredible country. We combine the perspective of people who understand Japan from within, while appreciating it through a lens we share as outsiders.

For us, it is not about “checking places off a list,” but about truly understanding the place. Japan, in depth.

I’m Miguel Ángel Morcillo Hidalgo, originally from Extremadura, Spain. After several trips to Japan, I eventually moved to Tokyo, where I have now been living for nearly a decade.

Having worked for years as a professional translator, and now as a Japanese language teacher through Japónes a Fondo, for me, gaining a deep understanding of the language opened the doors to Japanese culture on a much deeper level, in a way that would not otherwise be accessible.

Now, beyond the language itself, I also aim to share Japanese culture firsthand together with my fellow guides through the Japón a Fondo (Japan in Depth) Tours project.
